Love blossoms among prison birds; Murder convicts get parole for marriage

Jaipur, Jan 24: In a significant development, a court in Rajasthan has granted parole to two murder convicts to get married.

The court has granted parole to two prisoners, Priya Seth and Hanuman Prasad alias Jack, who are serving life sentences in two separate murder cases, and the couple will enter into married life today.

This incident is special as they had fallen in love while they were in an open jail. Now, after being released on parole, they will get married. After the intervention of the Rajasthan High Court, the District Parole Advisory Committee has granted them 15 days of parole, and the parole has started from Wednesday itself.

Marriage at the groom’s house

The wedding is taking place at Hanuman’s ancestral house in Baroda Mev village of Alwar district.

What is this love story?

This story begins in Sanganer Open Jail in Jaipur. Both Priya Seth and Hanuman Prasad were in Jaipur Central Jail, but about a year ago, they were shifted to an open jail under the Rajasthan Prisoners Open Air Camp Rules, 1972. Prisoners in open jails enjoy greater freedom. They can work, meet their families and experience a glimpse of normal life.

It was in this open environment that the two met. Their relationship began about a year ago. For the past few months, they had been living together in the jail premises as a live-in relationship.

Finally got parole

In November 2025, they decided to get married and informed their families. Later, they had also printed wedding cards and applied for parole in December. They approached the High Court for parole. On January 7, 2026, the Rajasthan High Court directed the District Parole Advisory Committee to take a decision within seven days. The committee granted parole to both of them. Advocate Vishram Prajapati represented them. The parole will last for 15 days, during which the wedding and related ceremonies will be completed. After the parole, the two will return to jail, officials said.

Dushyant Sharma murder case accused Priya Seth

Accused Priya Seth is a convict in the 2018 Dushyant Sharma murder case. Priya had lured Dushyant Sharma into a love trap on the dating app Tinder and invited him to her flat in the name of love. Later, along with three others, they held Dushyant hostage and demanded Rs 10 lakh from his father. Fearing this, the father transferred Rs 3 lakh. But later, after he approached the police, they strangled Dushyant to death, fearing arrest.

To prevent his face from being recognized, they stabbed him multiple times and then stuffed his body in a suitcase and dumped it in the hills of Amer. She was later arrested by the police.

Like Priya, Hanuman Prasad is also a murder convict. 29-year-old Hanuman Prasad was involved in the 2017 Alwar massacre in which five people were killed in a single night. On the night of October 2, 2017, in the Shivaji Park area of Alwar, Taekwondo coach Santosh Sharma’s husband Banwari Lal Sharma (45), his three sons Mohit (17), Happy (15), grandfather (12) and nephew Nikki (10) were murdered. In March 2023, the court sentenced Santosh and Hanuman to life imprisonment.
