Chandigarh: India’s first hydrogen train flagged off by Prime Minister Modi on Friday, July 17 at 7.40 am. The train will run on an 89-km route from Jind in Haryana to Sonepat. It will depart from Jind railway station at 7.40 am and reach Sonepat station at 9.40 am.

The launch of this train service is another historic milestone for India. India has joined the group of few countries that have started hydrogen-powered train service. It has the distinction of being the world’s most powerful train, longest train, etc.

The first commercial hydrogen train was inaugurated in Germany in 2018. Only a few countries, such as Britain, currently have hydrogen trains. India is among these countries.
