USA, July 23: An Indian-American doctor in Ohio, USA, has been sentenced to six months in jail for secretly recording women by placing a camera in a women’s toilet. The doctor has been identified as Advait Deshmukh. He worked at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. The accused doctor has pleaded guilty to seven counts of tampering with evidence and sexual assault in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
According to reports, Lucas County Judge Michael Golding has ordered Deshmukh to be placed on probation for three years and to continue treatment as a mental health and sex offender.
The doctor apologized before sentencing. Deshmukh specializes in endo-urology and urological oncology at the University of Toledo. He has been a medical professional for three years and has apologized to all his victims.
He told the court that he is undergoing treatment to understand the gravity of the situation and the behaviors that led to this crime. Therefore, he should be placed on probation instead of being sent to prison. A hidden camera was found in the accused doctor’s toilet.
The incident came to light in June 2025 when a hospital employee found the digital device hidden inside a box in a unisex toilet in the Renaissance Tower of Toledo Hospital.
