Mangalore: Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group and Founder Patron of the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), was conferred the Global Leadership Award for Quality & Innovation 2026 at the BCF Educational Scholarship Meet held today at Town Hall, Mangalore. The award was presented by U.T. Khader, Karnataka’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, who inaugurated the event.
At the same event, Dr. Moideen personally gave away a scholarship worth Rs.1.5 crore covering a full Thumbay International Pathway Program (TIPP) — a 6-year MD pathway where students complete 3 years at Gulf Medical University in Ajman, followed by 3 years at a partner medical university in Uzbekistan, graduating with a full MD degree to a deserving candidate, underscoring his long-standing commitment to making medical education accessible to meritorious students who cannot otherwise afford it.
Organized jointly by the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), Dubai, and the Bearys Cultural Forum Trust, Mangalore, the event brought together scholarship recipients, educationists, and civic leaders for an afternoon centered on access to education. Along side the award ceremony, the meet featured scholarship distribution for SSLC and PUC toppers across Karnataka, free sewing machine distribution for underprivileged women, and a business seminar.
The gathering drew a wide roster of dignitaries, including B.M. Farooq, Ex-MLC and MD of Fiza Group, as Chief Guest; Dr. B.K. Yusuf, President of BCF UAE, who presided over the event; Dr. Nissar Ahmed, Chancellor of Presidency University. Karnataka MLAs, MLCs, senior police and district officials, and community leaders from across the Gulf were also in attendance.
Accepting the honor, Dr. Moideen reflected on nearly three decades of Thumbay Group’s work in healthcare, education, and community development, and reaffirmed his continued commitment to expanding access to quality education for students across India and the Gulf. The Rs.1.5 crore MD scholarship, presented on the spot, drew a warm response from the gathering and stood out as one of the day’s defining moments.
