Karkala, June 18: Kelaputtige Ravalanath Prabhu, a well-known and respected personality of Karkala, passed away at the age of 84.
Born to Kelaputtige Narayana Prabhu and Shantheri Prabhu, Ravalanath Prabhu built his life through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. For over 31 years, he was fondly known across Karkala for preparing and selling Ellu Juice (Sesame Seed Juice). Travelling on his bicycle from one shop to another, he became a familiar and beloved figure in the town.

Apart from his livelihood, Prabhu was deeply committed to social service, especially towards school children and the underprivileged. His desire to contribute to society was evident through several charitable initiatives. In 2025, he donated 50 school bags to students of Government Higher Primary School, Gundaje Suralu, Karkala. He also provided solar lights worth ₹5 lakh to the houses of students associated with Baradi School and to economically disadvantaged families. In addition, he donated around 25,000 books to the library of Halekatte School, helping promote education and reading among young learners.
Ravalanath Prabhu will be remembered not only for his humble livelihood and hardworking nature but also for his generosity and concern for the welfare of children and the community.
He is survived by his wife, Vijayalakshmi Prabhu, and his three sons, Vinayaka Prabhu, Vidyananda Prabhu, and Vijendra Prabhu.
