Mumbai, Aug. 21: Whether due to work pressure or other reasons, people are now eating out more than cooking at home. However, while eating out, some hotels are using adulterated, especially unpackaged loose cooking oil. However, the government, which has waged a tough war against those who make loose cooking oil, has issued a new revolutionary order to put a stop to the fraud that was going on in the name of cooking oil. That is, it has issued an order mandatorily banning the sale of unpackaged (loose) cooking oil.

Yes, Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Munde has issued an order mandatorily banning the sale of unpackaged (loose) cooking oil across the entire state of Maharashtra. Speaking on this, FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde said, “The poor and common consumers are buying small quantities of loose oil, which is having a huge adverse effect on their health.
Using adulterated oil and repeatedly heated oil increases the risk of cancer, liver problems, stroke and heart diseases. Therefore, this tough decision has been taken in the interest of the public.”
There were widespread complaints that cooking oils sold in loose form in the market were being adulterated. Consumers were being cheated by mixing cheap and unhealthy cooking oils in such loose oil. Prolonged use of such adulterated oil leads to heart diseases and other serious health problems. Therefore, in the interest of public health and with the aim of completely putting a brake on adulteration, the Food and Drug Administration has taken this important decision.
Accordingly, from now on, no kind of cooking oil can be sold loose. The oil must be sold in fully sealed and labeled packets or cans. Along with this, re-heating and re-using cooking oil once used in hotels and restaurants is prohibited. If it is proved that the oil is sold accidentally, adulterated and unsafe, then a maximum of 7 years of imprisonment will be imposed. In addition, a hefty fine of up to Rs 10 lakh can be imposed on the manufacturers, distributors or mill owners who violate the rules.
