Lakhimpur: A 25-year-old young man who had gone to Maharashtra for work fell into a pan of boiling jaggery and died tragically.
The deceased young man has been identified as Danish (25), a resident of Moodi village in Isanagar, Lakhimpur. Danish had gone to Maharashtra for work about four months ago along with 15 other workers. It is said that he had gone to work with the intention of helping his family pay off a loan of Rs 70,000.
Jaggery was boiling in two large pans in the jaggery manufacturing unit. All the workers were busy with their respective work. At this time, Danish had come and stood near the edge of the pan. In a few moments, he felt dizzy and lost his balance.
As he looked around, he fell straight into the pan of boiling jaggery. Danish, who was trapped in the pan, screamed in pain, “Save me… Save me… Anna, save me.” Hearing his cries, his colleagues in the unit rushed over.
Colleagues’ struggle to lift Danish:
Hearing Danish’s cries, his colleagues rushed over and tried to save him. But it was not easy to pull Danish out of the boiling pot. First, one worker tried to pull Danish out with the help of a large ladle. Another came to his aid with a ladle. But when the attempt failed, two or three workers, risking their lives, came forward and pulled Danish out of the pan.
When he was brought out, most of his skin had been burned off. Danish was writhing in severe pain. Some workers immediately shouted for water and poured water on him. He was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. But the treatment did not work and he died.
Tragic end of the man who went to repay a loan of 70 thousand:
Danish had been married for two years. He has a two-month-old baby. He is survived by his wife, son, parents and siblings. It is said that Danish’s elder brother Guddu had taken a loan of 70 thousand. Danish had gone to Maharashtra to work to help repay that loan. But the life of the young man who had gone to help his family ended in tragedy.
After receiving information about the accident, the Maharashtra police conducted a post-mortem examination of the body and then sent it to Moodi village. As soon as the body reached the village on Saturday, the family was in shock. The family members started making allegations against the workers who had gone to Maharashtra with Danish. After receiving information, the Isanagar police went to the village. They showed the CCTV footage of the jaggery manufacturing unit to the family members.
After watching the scene, the family members calmed down. Isanagar CO Shamsher Bahadur Singh said, “The incident took place at a jaggery manufacturing unit in Maharashtra. A police team was sent as a precautionary measure when the body arrived in the village. No written complaint has been received against anyone so far.”
