Mangaluru: The national-level inter-collegiate fest, “Aloysian Fest–2026,” organized for Pre-University (PU) students, was grandly inaugurated on Monday at the LF Rasquinha Hall of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University).
Sharan Chilimbi, an alumnus of the university and content creator, was the chief guest for the program. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized that learning outside the classroom is just as crucial as formal education. Highlighting the importance of acquiring diverse skills, he noted, “The true value of learning skills will become clear in the years to come.” He also expressed a strong desire to support the next generation, sharing his vision to create promising opportunities for youth interested in pursuing their passion in Mangaluru.
The Guest of Honour, National Award-winning child artist Atheesh S. Shetty, wished the students success and encouraged them to identify their hidden talents, build self-confidence, and maximize the potential of events like this fest.
Presiding over the function, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Vice-Chancellor of the university, remarked that every individual thinks differently and the unique talents within each person are gifts from God. He urged students to recognize, nurture, and utilize these talents effectively.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr Melwyn D’Cunha SJ, Registrar Dr Ronald Nazareth, Fest Coordinators Dr Dinesh Nayak and Dr Deshal Fernandes, along with Student Coordinators Giselle Pearl,and Rachel Maria, were present on the dais.Dr Dinesh Nayak welcomed the gathering, and Jeevan D’Mello rendered the vote of thanks.
The fest concluded with a valedictory program presided over by Pro-Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr Melwyn D’Cunha SJ. Chief Guest Dion Monteiro, Director of Rohan Corporation, shared reflections on overcoming self-doubt and the transformative power of campus involvement.”The real world is not just going to be what you learn in your books or for your exams,”Monteiro noted, emphasizing that unexpected obstacles serve as the ultimate training ground for professional success and future mentorship.
Dr Deshel Fernandes welcomed the gathering, Dr Dinesh Nayak proposed the vote of thanks, and Joyal Dsouza compered the program.
A total of 38pre-university colleges from Karnataka and neighboring states, with more than 1250 students, participated in the event.
