London, September 09: Businessman Vijay Mallya has dismissed allegations that he is deliberately refusing to return to India. He said that he is legally restricted from leaving Britain.
In a series of posts on his ex-account, Mallya alleged that he has been a permanent resident of Britain since 1992 and that the Indian government has treated him ‘grossly unfairly’.
Vijay Mallya is one of the 15 people declared as fugitive economic offenders (FEOs) under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018. In October 2025, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Lok Sabha that the list includes several prominent names, including Mallya and Nirav Modi.
