Mumbai, Sep 12: Diamond bangles worth approximately Rs.5 lakh were stolen from the residence of Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel’s mother in the Churchgate area of Mumbai. The Marine Drive police have arrested a 40-year-old domestic worker in connection with the case.
The accused has been identified as Seema Ghate. A resident of Palghar, she had reportedly been working at the home of Ameesha Patel’s mother, Asha Patel, for about a year and a half.
Acting on a complaint filed by Asha Patel, the Marine Drive police investigated the theft and traced the accused, Ghate, to Virar. Police stated that a case was initially registered against an unidentified woman before the accused was taken into custody.
Following her arrest, Ghate was produced before the court, which remanded her to police custody until September 15. The theft of the jewelry from the house allegedly took place in January 2026.
Asha Patel had suspected Ghate; consequently, for the past six to seven months, she had been urging her to confess to the theft and return the jewelry.
