Sharjah, Sept. 23: An incident involving the brutal and horrific murder of a man from Kundapura, Udupi district—who had moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in search of work—has come to light belatedly. The deceased has been identified as Prakash Kundar. Perpetrators barbarically murdered him by chopping his body into nine pieces; the subsequent disappearance of the victim’s wife and son has raised several suspicions.
Prakash Kundar, who had been residing in the UAE for two decades, was employed at an airport agency in Sharjah. The murder, which took place three months ago, was shrouded in mystery. When his brother in India sent him a voice message, the reply came as a text message instead of a voice message. Suspicious, the brother contacted the airport agency where Prakash worked, only to be told that Prakash had returned to India. However, Prakash had not returned to India.
Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the local police through relatives in Sharjah. Upon investigating, the police discovered the body—chopped into nine pieces to prevent identification—inside the trunk of Prakash’s own car. Official confirmation that the body belonged to Prakash Kundar was obtained after the police collected and tested DNA samples from his family members.
Sharjah police have been conducting an extensive, multi-stage investigation since the end of July. A highly mysterious aspect of this gruesome case is that the deceased’s wife, Tina Kundar, and her son disappeared immediately after the incident. There is a strong suspicion that the wife may have committed this heinous act with the help of another individual. As she has remained unreachable since the incident, it is suspected that she may have fled to India or another country after the murder.
If the wife indeed committed this brutal act, what was the motive? The family of the deceased has demanded, with great anguish, that her whereabouts be traced immediately. Since the incident occurred in Sharjah, the Sharjah police are handling the investigation. Relatives are making continuous efforts to bring Prakash’s mortal remains back to India. Once the body is repatriated, the family has decided to press for a comprehensive investigation through the Indian government as well.
