Mumbai: The BCCI has decided to hold the 2027 Women’s Premier League (WPL) from January 14 to February 7. However, a mini-auction is scheduled to take place prior to that. A few days ago, the BCCI shared key details regarding the WPL mini-auction, announcing that it would be held on October 28 in Kochi, Kerala. Consequently, all five franchises were required to submit their lists of retained and released players to the BCCI ahead of the auction. Today—September 28—all five franchises announced the lists of players they have released and retained.
Four Players Out from RCB
While the defending champions, RCB, have released four players, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians have let go of six players. Regarding the players released by RCB, the team has parted ways with explosive Australian batter Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, Hemalatha, and Gautami Naik. On a positive note, star all-rounder Ellyse Perry—who had withdrawn from the WPL last season due to personal reasons—has announced her participation in this edition; consequently, RCB has retained her in the squad.
UP releases nine players
Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Ayushi Soni, Titas Sadhu, and Shivani Singh have parted ways with the Gujarat Giants. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have each released six players. The UP Warriorz have released nine players, including Shweta Sehrawat. The Delhi Capitals, led by Jemimah, have decided to release Alana King, Adlha Srijana, Lizelle Lee, Pragati Singh, Sneh Rana, and Taniya Bhatia.
Auction on October 28
Next year’s Women’s Premier League is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 9. Prior to that, the player auction will take place in Kochi on October 28. During the auction, all franchises will work to fill the currently vacant spots in their squads. Players released today will also participate in the auction and could potentially join new teams.
