Massive Explosion at Firecracker Workshop in Bihar – 4 Dead, Rescue Operations Underway

Patna, Oct 24: Four people died on the spot following an explosion at a house used for manufacturing firecrackers in Bihar’s Siwan district this evening, police stated. The tragedy occurred in Alampur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jamo Police Station in the Barharia block.

Information regarding the explosion was received around 5:20 PM. There were seven people inside the house when the blast occurred. Rescue teams are continuing their search for the others.

The incident took place at a house belonging to 72-year-old Amruddin; the deceased have been identified as members of his family. The event caused panic in the village, drawing a large crowd to the scene. However, rescue and relief efforts were severely hampered by intermittent, smaller explosions occurring at the site. Police cordoned off the area and instructed the public to maintain a distance of approximately 200 meters.

Police and fire department personnel have rushed to the location and are actively engaged in rescue operations. Efforts to clear the debris using JCB machines and extract those trapped are currently in full swing. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, with doctors noting that the condition of some is critical. Preliminary investigations reveal that this illegal firecracker unit was operating near a residential area without adhering to any safety standards. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
