New Delhi, A. 06: Air India has suspended its flights to Israel till May 31 as the war rages in West Asia. The airline has suspended flights on the New Delhi-Tel Aviv route till May 31, an Air India executive confirmed to news agency PTI.

Most major airlines have suspended their operations on the Tel Aviv route, with only Israeli carriers like El Al IsraelAir, Arkia and Air Haifa operating under severe restrictions. The suspension of flights has raised concerns among the over 40,000 Indians living in Israel who are looking to come to India for personal or professional reasons or to escape the rising tensions in the region.
Indians wishing to leave Israel will have to enter by crossing the land border between the two countries via Jordan or Egypt. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv is facilitating repatriation to India through various channels. The embassy is in regular touch with the Indian community, has opened a 24×7 emergency helpline and has also started a mass registration exercise.
Ambassador JP Singh and the embassy team held a virtual discussion on Saturday to listen to the concerns of Indian workers and students across Israel. The mission said on its social media that it would continue to support them during the crisis and beyond. Direct flight services between New Delhi and Tel Aviv were resumed on January 1 with four weekly flights using the upgraded Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. However, flights have been disrupted since the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran on February 28.
