36th Graduation Ceremony of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital

Mangalore: The 36th Graduation Ceremony of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital was held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 10.00 a.m. at the Father Muller Convention Centre, Kankanady, Mangaluru.

The programme commenced with a solemn procession of graduates accompanied by a ceremonial band and salutation with the guard of honour. The President of the programme, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese & President, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, the Chief Guest, Dr K S Gangadhara Somayaji, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, Rev. Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC & H, Rev. Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, Administrator, FMHPD, Rev. Fr Ashwin Crasta, Assistant Administrator, FMHMC&H, Dr E.S.J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, Vice Principal, FMHMC, and Dr Girish Navada, Medical Superintendent, FMHMC & H, and DrReshel Noronha, Convenor of Graduation Ceremony 2026 were accorded a traditional welcome with Poornakumbha.

The formal programme began with invocation seeking the blessings of the Almighty through a prayer song by the students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.

In his welcome address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, emphasised the values of wisdom, hard work, and perseverance, reflecting on the 146-year legacy of Father Muller Charitable Institutions and its contributions to homoeopathy, encouraging graduates to serve with compassion and live up to their role as responsible healers.He also introduced and welcomed the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Dr E.S.J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal, FMHMC presented the Annual Report for the academic year 2025–26, outlining the academic achievements, clinical services, and research activities.

The programme also highlighted a significant achievement of the institution with NABH accreditation for the Homoeopathic Medical College hospital and NABL accreditation for the Medical laboratory, followed by the handover of the NABH and NABL certificates to the Director, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo. The occasion also witnessed the unveiling of a range of cosmetic products under Muller’s Cosmeceuticals by Rev. Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, Administrator, FMHPD.

The graduands were honoured and conferred with their degrees by the Chief Guest, Dr K S Gangadhara Somayaji which was followed by the administration of the Homoeopathic Physician’s Oath led by Principal, Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran.

The postgraduates were honoured by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese & President, FMCI.

The Graduation Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr K S GangadharaSomayaji,  hedescribed the day as a special milestone, marking the graduates’ transition into licensed practitioners. He congratulated the graduates and postgraduates, noting that they were graduating from a reputed institution, and emphasized the empathetic, holistic approach of Homoeopathy with focus on patient-centred case-taking. He encouraged them to pursue higher studies and research, and to always respect patients, their alma mater and teachers, and their parents.

On behalf of the graduates, Dr Srikanya K H expressed gratitude towards the institution.

A total of 111 graduates, including 92 BHMS undergraduates and 19 MD (Hom) postgraduates, were conferred with their degrees on this occasion.

Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese & President of FMCI honoured the University rank holders, subject-wise award winners, and recipients of academic and extracurricular distinctions, with 8 Institutional Prizes, 12undergraduate and 5 postgraduate subject wise prizes. The college secured 4 undergraduate and 12 postgraduate ranks under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, and the rank holders were honoured on the occasion.

The RGUHS Gold Medal in Homoeopathic Materia Medica (MD) was awarded to Dr Merlin Liza James,and the CCRH Scholarshipfor Quality MD Dissertation in Homoeopathy was awarded to Dr Shreyank S Kotian MD (Hom) Paediatrics.

Students of the graduating batch were also honoured for their achievements in university-level sports, with Dr K Kadambari representing the RGUHS Badminton Women’s Team three times at the South Zone Inter-University Tournament, Dr Shithil Joseph representing the RGUHS Athletic Team at the All India Inter-University Championship, and Dr Alvia Pearl Rodrigues representing the RGUHS Tug of War Women’s Team at the All India Inter-University Tournament.

The Dr Jannu Pearly Sharon Memorial Research Award, sponsored by the 2017–18 Alumni of FMHMC and the parents of Late Dr Jannu Pearly Sharon, for the best outgoing student researcher from the graduating batch with outstanding achievements in research and publications, was awarded to Dr K Kadambari.

The Award of Excellence for Undergraduate Student of the Year for the 2020-21 batch, instituted by the 1997 Alumni batch, was awarded to Dr Srikanya K H.

The ‘Dr Sumod Jacob Solomon Award’ of Excellence for Postgraduate Student of the 2022-23 batch, sponsored by the 6th Batch of Mullerians, was awarded to Dr Akshara T.

The Best Outgoing Postgraduate Award of Batch 2022-23, sponsored by Dr S. K. Tiwari, Former Principal, FMHMC, in memory of his beloved wife Late Mrs Savita Tiwari, was awarded to Dr Akshay J Nair.

The Father Muller Charitable Institutions President’s Gold Medal for the Best Outgoing Undergraduate Studentfor the 2020-21 batchwas awarded to Dr Akhil Monteiro.

Dr K S Gangadhara Somayaji the Chief Guest was honoured by the President of FMCI as a token of appreciation.

In his Presidential Address, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha congratulated the graduates, postgraduates, and award winners, describing the occasion as both a milestone and a responsibility. He reflected on the legacy of Samuel Hahnemann and highlighted the need for innovation and research in a rapidly evolving world, while emphasising the unique strength of homoeopathy in individualised, compassionate care.

Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, honoured the President of the programme, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and President of FMCI with a sapling as a mark of gratitude.

Rev. Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC&H proposed the vote of thanks.

The Graduation Ceremony concluded with institution anthem and recession of the graduates and dignitaries. Dr Shreyank S Kotian and Dr Mable P Andrade compeered the graduation ceremony.

A Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was offered by Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Former Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Parish Priests of St Raphael Church, Badyar at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Deralakatte at 6.30a.m. on the same day which was attended by Graduates, their parents and staff.
