Tumkur, April 23: In just one week, 32 peacocks were killed in various parts of Tumkur district, which has raised concerns among locals and environmentalists.

A total of 32 peacocks died in Bommanahalli, Kolihalli, Bhairasandra, Hullenahalli villages of Tumkur from April 16 to 21.
Currently, tissue samples of the dead peacocks have been sent to the laboratory for post-mortem examination, and the cause of death will be found after the report comes.
The Forest Department has registered a case and a team has been formed to investigate under the leadership of an Assistant Conservator of Forests, said Deputy Conservator of Forests G.R. Shashidhar.
The peacocks did not die in any particular village or place. They are dying in different places.
No suspicious objects were found in the dead bodies during the post-mortem examination. Forest department officials said they may have died from the heat of the sun.
