Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, journalist among five killed

Lebanon, April 23: Tensions have resumed in the Middle East, with violence continuing despite a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel. At least five people were killed in an Israeli attack on Wednesday, Lebanese media reported.

A recent US-brokered ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Lebanon. The Iran-backed Hezbollah was also involved in it. However, the continued violence has raised questions about the effectiveness of the agreement.

Amal Khalil, a journalist for the Al-Akhbar newspaper, was killed and another journalist, Zainab Faraj, was injured in an Israeli attack near the border. The attack on journalists has caused international outrage.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron said a French soldier wounded in an attack on UN peacekeepers had also died. Hezbollah has been blamed for the attack, a charge the group has denied.

Meanwhile, Israeli and Lebanese representatives are set to hold another round of talks in Washington to discuss extending the ceasefire.

Lebanon is likely to ask for a month-long extension. It is also understood to be considering demanding a complete halt to Israeli attacks.

More than 2,450 people have been killed in Lebanon by Israeli attacks since the war began, according to officials.
