Former BJP leader’s son’s rape case: High Court orders monthly maintenance for young woman

Mangalore, April 24: The Karnataka High Court has granted an interim stay on the further hearing of the rape case registered against Krishna J. Rao, son of former BJP leader Jagannivasa Rao from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district. He is accused of getting the young woman pregnant on the promise of marriage.

The court has ordered the accused Krishna J. Rao to pay Rs 75,000 per month for the maintenance of the victim and the child, either personally or through his parents.

Today, a single-judge bench of Justice M. Nagaprasanna, who was hearing the application filed by Krishna J. Rao to quash the case, passed this interim order.

Meanwhile, the court has directed that the first installment of Rs 75,000 be paid to the child’s mother within a week and then every month.

Based on this condition, the High Court has temporarily stayed all further hearings in the case until further orders.
