Bengaluru: Six foreign women have been arrested after they were found indulging in illegal activities by inviting men to prostitution in a public place, police said on Tuesday.
The women were arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Women’s Protection Wing, they said. However, the police did not reveal the countries to which the women belonged in the statement.
The operation was carried out following a tip-off that some foreign women, who were standing near the footpath of the bus stand near the Madiwala check post under Koramangala police station limits, were inviting men passing by on the road for prostitution, police said.

Based on this information, officers and staff of the CCB Women’s Protection Wing immediately visited the spot and inspected it, they said.
During the operation, six foreign women were found to be indulging in illegal activities by inviting men for prostitution in public places, a statement issued by the Police Commissioner’s Office said.
Immediately, officers and personnel conducted a raid and detained the six foreign women. When questioned about their passports and visas, they failed to provide valid and satisfactory information, it said.
“Later, all the six foreign women were produced before the Koramangala police station and a report was submitted for further legal action. A case has been registered at the Koramangala police station in this regard and further investigation is underway,” the police statement said.
