Raipura, April 15: Nine workers died and 15 were seriously injured in a boiler blast at the Vedanta Power Plant in Shakti district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
The accident occurred in the Dabra police station area. Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur confirmed the deaths of the workers. Many of the injured workers have suffered serious burns. The condition of many others is said to be critical, according to reports.


The boiler suddenly exploded at around 2 pm while the workers were working as usual at the Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitari village. It is suspected that the explosion may have occurred due to rupture of a tube inside the boiler.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, police, fire brigade teams and senior administrative officials rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said that an investigation will be conducted to find out the exact cause of the explosion.
