Foundation stone laid for country’s 2nd largest cricket stadium

Anekal: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar officially laid the foundation stone for a new international cricket stadium in Anekal, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The Rs 943 crore mega project will be spread over 80 acres and will have a seating capacity of 80,000 spectators. It will be the second largest cricket stadium in India.

The state-of-the-art stadium is being built by the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) on a land of about 100 acres at a huge cost of about Rs 943 crore. The stadium is targeted to be completed in just 2 to 3 years. There is a well-equipped multi-storey parking system that can park more than 500 vehicles at a time. There are commercial and retail outlets, a sports equipment store and a spacious restaurant for sports lovers. Hi-tech accommodation for players, coaches and sports staff. There will be a helipad for emergency arrivals of dignitaries, a public plaza and an attractive green belt around.
