Fr. Praveen D’Souza Takes Charge as ICYM Director and Secretary of Youth Commission of Mangalore Diocese

Mangaluru, June 2: The Indiana Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of the Mangalore Diocese accorded a grand welcome to Fr. Praveen D’Souza as he officially assumed office as the new Director of ICYM and Secretary of the Youth Commission of the Diocese.

During the ceremony, Fr. Praveen took his oath of office and addressed the gathering of youth leaders and members. Expressing his happiness on taking up the new responsibility, he said, “ICYM and the youth have always been a great strength of our Church. I am very happy to be a part of this movement and assure my wholehearted support to all upcoming programmes and initiatives.”

Outgoing Director Fr. Ashwin Cardoza fondly recalled the memorable experiences of his six-year journey with ICYM. He thanked the youth for their support and cooperation over the years and extended his best wishes to Fr. Praveen for a successful tenure.

Fr. Santhosh also spoke on the occasion and encouraged the youth to continue their active participation in the mission of the Church.

The programme began with a welcome address by Winston Sequeira, Coordinator of the Youth Commission. Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Ronald Chethan Amin, while Maria, Secretary of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, coordinated the programme.

Various Deanery President Secretaries, ICYM Mangalore Diocese executive members and youth leaders joined in welcoming the new Director and expressing their support for the future activities of ICYM.
