Bali, April 30: An Air India pilot on scheduled rest died of a heart attack in Bali on Wednesday.


An Air India spokesperson issued a statement saying that the first officer, who was on scheduled rest in Bali, experienced severe discomfort at his hotel.
“He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a heart attack. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he could not be saved,” the spokesperson said.
Air India is deeply saddened by the pilot’s death, the spokesperson said, adding that the airline is in close touch with the family and is providing all possible support.
Further details could not be immediately confirmed. The airline official said that the pilot had completed all mandatory medical tests as per regulatory requirements a few months ago.
The official said that the pilot had no previous health problems. The spokesperson said the pilot was performing well within the flight hours limit prescribed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
