Ayodhya: Police have arrested a first year student of Rajarshi Dashrath Autonomous Medical College in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, after a handwritten note with details of making a bomb was found.
The arrested student has been identified as Sarfaraz Khan, a native of Balrampur. He is a first year student of the 2025 X-ray Technology batch of the college. The students who went to the X-ray room for duty on Saturday morning found a paper note. Sarfaraz is said to have been in the same room on Friday night.
The handwritten document had details of chemicals like ammonium carbonate, nitric acid, red phosphorus, red sulphide and gauge wire required to make a bomb. The college’s Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Dr. Arvind Singh immediately filed a complaint with the police, and the police have questioned two other students who were on duty with Sarfaraz.
Security tightened in Ayodhya and the investigation is ongoing. The police and the Uttar Pradesh ATS (UP-ATS) are investigating whether there is any criminal or terrorist conspiracy behind the note. Following the incident, the medical college administration has increased security on the campus and conducted checks in X-ray, labs and hostel rooms.
On November 10, 2025, 15 people were killed in a car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi. In that case, the Jaish-e-Mohammed network, in which staff from Haryana’s Al Falah University were involved, came to light. Now, the discovery of such a note in a medical college in a sensitive area like Ayodhya has raised concerns among the investigating agencies.
The STF and forensic teams have intensified the investigation into whether the arrested student Sarfaraz Khan has any links with any terrorist organizations or has fallen into the network of a provocateur. After the incident, search operations were conducted in the X-ray, lab and hostel rooms of the college and hospital, and security has been further tightened.
