Bengaluru: Pavitra Gowda, the partner of actor Darshan and an accused in the Chitradurga Renukaswamy murder case, is facing a new source of distress while in custody.

Pavitra Gowda—Darshan’s partner and the prime accused (A1) in the case—is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail. She has expressed her anguish to the court regarding the harassment she is facing from Nigerian inmates.
The court had previously approved Pavitra Gowda’s request to change her barracks and had issued instructions to that effect. However, the court has expressed displeasure with the jail authorities for failing to shift her to a different barrack and submit a report so far. The court has now set a deadline for the jail authorities to submit the report today.
The court had ordered her transfer to a different barrack on September 7. However, Pavitra Gowda filed another application stating that the transfer had not taken place even a month after the order was issued.
Distressed by the harassment from the Nigerian inmates, Pavitra Gowda had even shed tears before the judge. At that time, the court had directed the jail authorities to submit a report by September 26; however, they failed to do so. Consequently, before the commencement of the approver proceedings on October 5, lawyers representing Pavithra Gowda once again brought this matter to the judge’s attention. The judge expressed displeasure over the jail authorities’ failure to submit a report and directed them to submit it without fail today.
Pavithra Gowda had been shifted to a barracks housing 32 other accused individuals, and she had previously brought the harassment by Nigerian accused persons there to the court’s notice.
