Puttur, Aug 17: The Department of Physics of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, observed National Space Day at the Spandana Seminar Hall on Wednesday.










Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. A.P. Radhakrishna, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, St Philomena College, stressed the need for students to cultivate curiosity about everything around them.
“Such curiosity helps us become calm, humble and focused in life,” he said, urging students to develop an interest in physics and contribute meaningfully to the field of space science.
Presiding over the programme, college Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro highlighted India’s significant progress and achievements in space science from ancient times to the present. He underlined the importance of research in the growth and development of the nation and encouraged students to participate actively not only in academic activities but also in the various programmes organised by the college. He congratulated the staff for organising the National Space Day programme.
Prof. Dr K. Chandrashekar, Head of the Department of Physics and NSS Officer, delivered the introductory remarks. Members of the Science stream faculty were present.
As part of the National Space Day celebrations, various competitions were organised for students. Prizes were distributed to the winners at the programme.
The programme began with a prayer by Manasa and team. Radhika Y. welcomed the gathering, while Spoorthi C.S. proposed the vote of thanks. Vindyashree Rai compered the programme.
