Moodubidire: Vivek Alva, Manging Trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation, has been appointed as the Deputy National Commissioner (Cultural Exchange) of The Bharat Scouts and Guides, headquartered in New Delhi.

The appointment has been made by Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner of The Bharat Scouts and Guides and a retired IAS officer. The appointment is considered a matter of pride for Karnataka, particularly the coastal region, as it entrusts Alva with the responsibility of strengthening cultural harmony, national integration and international friendship among young people through the Scouts and Guides movement.
As Deputy National Commissioner (Cultural Exchange), Alva will be responsible for planning and coordinating cultural exchange programs among different States, organizing National Integration Camps, youth exchange initiatives, cultural jamborees, and national and international youth interactions. He will also facilitate collaborative programs with global Scouts and Guides organizations to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
His role will further include fostering respect for India’s diverse languages, cultures and traditions, while promoting the national ideal of “Unity in Diversity” among the youth. He will also work towards providing national platforms for talented Scouts and Guides, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage at national and international forums, and implementing programs that enhance leadership, communication skills and global perspectives among young participants.
Alva has been actively associated with the Scouts and Guides movement for several years and has played a significant role in organizing International Cultural Jamborees, National Integration Camps, youth leadership programs and several national-level Scouts and Guides events. He has earned widespread appreciation for successfully coordinating the International Cultural Jamboree held at Moodubidire.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen cultural exchange initiatives within The Bharat Scouts and Guides and provide greater opportunities for young Scouts and Guides from Karnataka to participate in national and international programs.
