Rajasthan: A farmer who buried his hard-earned Rs 5 lakh in the field without informing his family has now faced a big shock. Termites have eaten all the money hidden under the field, completely destroying it. The incident took place in the field of farmer Rangu alias Mangilal Meghwal, a resident of Pachpadra in Balotra district of Rajasthan.
Mangilal had kept Rs 5 lakh in cash to build a shed in the field. Fearing that it might be stolen if kept at home or spent by his family, he wrapped the money in a plastic bag overnight and buried it in the field without informing anyone.
Mangilal had amnesia. When he needed money, he forgot where he had buried it in the field. No matter how much they dug and searched the 10 bigha land, the money was not found. Later, they informed the family and everyone searched, but it was not found.
Recently, during the rainy season, a plastic bag came up while ploughing the land with a tractor. The next morning, when they went to the land, they found a plastic bag and when they opened it, they found that the notes worth Rs 5 lakh inside had been completely eaten by termites.
The family took the completely damaged notes and went to the SBI branch in Pachapadra and then to the main branch in Balotra. However, since the condition of the notes was very bad, the local banks refused to accept them.
The bank staff advised that they could go to the Reserve Bank (RBI) or SBI head office in Jaipur to get it checked and exchanged. But the family, who is in extreme poverty, is crying and not even having the money to travel to Jaipur.
