Bengaluru, September 08: The 108 ambulance employees working under the state government’s Arogya Kavach scheme have warned of a strike, demanding that various demands including salary revision be met.
The government has been given a 15-day deadline to meet the demands, and the organizations have said that they will join the struggle by resigning en masse from September 20.
In this regard, the office bearers of the Suvarna Karnataka Arogya Kavach-108 Employees’ Association and the Karnataka State Arogya Kavach Ambulance Employees’ Association have written a letter to the Health Minister and the General Secretary of the department and expressed their grievances. The letter mentions that about 35,000 workers are working under the GVK organization.
The salary fixed by zone should be abolished and changed to a uniform zone. Rs. 50 lakhs to the family of those who died in the accident. Compensation and salary should be fixed for the staff on the basis of seniority. According to the Labor Department, salary should be paid by the 7th of every month. It has been demanded that toilets, rest rooms and water should be arranged for cleaning the ambulances for the workers at all workplaces.
The office bearers of the association, who wrote a letter on September 4, said that if the demand is not met within 15 days, they will resign en masse and start a struggle from September 20. They have warned that the government is responsible for the subsequent consequences.
If patients suffer due to the strike of 108 ambulance employees, strict action will be taken against those concerned without delay. If the drivers have any problem, they should talk to the company. If the company cannot handle its drivers and operators, they should leave the company, Minister U.T. Khader has warned.
