Bengaluru/New Delhi: Veteran actor Anant Nag has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2024, in recognition of his outstanding cinematic journey and contributions to Indian cinema.

With this honor, Anant Nag becomes the second Kannada actor to receive this award, following Dr. Rajkumar. The award will be presented during the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony scheduled for September 22 in Kevadia, Gujarat.
The legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1995 (at the 43rd National Film Awards) for his remarkable contribution to the Kannada film industry, becoming the first Kannada actor to receive this distinction. Since then, no other Kannada actor had received this award. However, Anant Nag’s selection for the 2024 honor, based on the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award selection committee, has brought both joy and a sense of pride to the people of Karnataka.
