Mangaluru, Sept 19: The newly constructed Shakti Research and Training Institute managed by Shakti Educational Trust, Shakti Nagar, Mangaluru, was inaugurated with the support of HPCL CSR.
Hon’ble Captain BrijeshChowta, Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada, inaugurated the Shakti Research and Training Centre building by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the nameplate. HPCL Director (HR), K. S. Shetty, inaugurated the room of the Shakti Research and Training Centre by cutting the ribbon and lighting the ceremonial lamp. On this occasion, the nameplate was also unveiled.
Approximately 100 computer-equipped laboratory facilities were inaugurated by Anupam Tiwari, CGM, HPCL CSR.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjeet Naik, Secretary of Shakti Research and Training Institute said that student-development programmes would be conducted with the overall development of students in mind. Priority would be given to areas such as leadership, creativity, communication skills, life skills, digital literacy and other skills necessary for the future.
Along with this, it is intended to make this institution accessible to the wider educational community of Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada district. Two special training programmes every year are proposed for teachers and heads of schools outside the Shakti institution.
These training programmes will focus on subjects such as Panchakosha, Panchapadi, implementation of the NCF-based curriculum, NEP-based methodologies, and holistic learning.
Along with all these programmes, educational research will be carried out as a continuous activity. Regular educational workshops and discussion forums will also be organized to support this work.
Another important area of work for this institution will be Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital education. AI has already begun bringing changes to the field of education. It is the responsibility of teachers to understand these changes and prepare teachers and students to use technology intelligently and responsibly.
Our vision is not limited only to Shakti institutions. Initially, our primary responsibility is to strengthen our own educational institutions. The Shakti Research and Training Centre should gradually develop into a regional centre for teacher development, educational research and educational collaboration in coastal Karnataka.
We hope that in the coming days, teachers and educational leaders from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and other parts of Karnataka will make use of this facility.
We also wish to develop collaboration with universities, educational research institutions, teacher-training institutions, government and educational organizations, as well as experts in artificial intelligence, digital education and Indian knowledge traditions.
Therefore, on the occasion of inaugurating the Shakti Research and Training Centre today, we accept this wonderful facility with gratitude and responsibility.
Later, Hon’ble Member of Parliament BrijeshChowta said that the institution should emerge as a centre that enables teachers and others working in the field of education to implement the State’s education policies effectively and in their true spirit.
He expressed the hope that the institution would become a centre where teachers in Mangaluru could adopt new ideas in the field of education and implement them in their true spirit. He also expressed the view that Shakti Education Trust should move forward with this vision.
The Prime Minister has set the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. There is immense faith in students in achieving this goal.
“You are acquiring education on one side, and through education you are developing yourselves. But along with that, you must also bring about change in society. You should become agents of change.”
Therefore, my request to you is: Let us keep our Mangaluru clean. Let us cultivate discipline in our families and in the environment around us.
You can become agents of change. You must work to develop discipline and good values among your family members and the people around you. Discipline should become an inseparable part of our lives.
You should share the knowledge and good qualities that you acquire in this educational institution with your family members and the people around you. Through your conduct and words, you should become role models.
My request to all my student friends is that you should undertake activities that make you role models for society.
While you are pursuing your education, be fearless. When we begin to live in fear and try to learn out of fear, true learning is not possible. Fear reduces our capacity to learn and weakens our confidence to live.
Not only our education system but sometimes our social system also introduces an element of fear into our lives. Therefore, you must consciously make efforts to overcome that fear.
On this occasion, Hon’ble MLA Vedavyasa Kamath said that the inauguration of the Shakti Research Centre has been undertaken with the objective of improving the quality of education for teachers in Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada.
If the National Education Policy (NEP) is to be effectively implemented in education, teachers must first be provided with proper training. In this regard, Shakti Education Trust is doing excellent work by providing training to teachers. This is a valuable contribution to society.
This Research Centre will provide teachers and students with all the programmes and resources they require to progress in their lives. Students from 31 districts of the State are studying here, and Shakti Education Trust has provided them with all the opportunities they need.
Therefore, children should learn with happiness and develop a sense of pride in their abilities. Shakti Education Trust is not merely providing education; it is also making efforts to impart values and culture to children.
When opportunities are available, children should make use of them and become successful achievers in life.
Teachers from all educational institutions can also come here and receive training. Therefore, all government and private-school teachers in the district should make use of the facilities provided by the Shakti Research and Training Centre established by Shakti Education Trust.
He wished the children success and encouraged them to make full use of the opportunities available to them.
Address by Shri K. S. Shetty, HR Director, HPCL
The chief guest at the programme, K. S. Shetty, HR Director, HPCL, said that through its CSR activities, HPCL is undertaking numerous socially oriented programmes in different parts of the country.
HPCL is working in approximately 300 districts across the country in various ways and undertakes several CSR activities in the regions where it operates.
HPCL has previously undertaken several CSR initiatives in Mangaluru as well. It is a matter of great satisfaction for HPCL to participate in this important initiative in collaboration with the Shakti Research and Training Centre.
Since this initiative will contribute to the development of education and educational research, HPCL has expressed its commitment to supporting the project.
It is our belief that this institution will not merely work towards advancing the objectives of the New Education Policy, as referred to by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament and the Hon’ble MLA, but will also become an important centre providing training and knowledge to teachers not only from Dakshina Kannada district but also from various neighbouring districts.
The institution should also grow into an excellent research centre in the field of education.
When we were studying in school, education was obtained mainly through textbooks. However, the situation has completely changed today. For students of the new generation, education is now available through numerous sources.
Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is available to you. If you type something into an AI system, you can obtain the information you require within seconds. Knowledge can be accessed directly through your tablet or mobile phone.
However, educating a generation that has grown up in such a technology-driven environment is not an easy task for teachers. Therefore, teachers must also change and adapt.
As the education sector continues to progress, teachers must continuously develop their knowledge and skills. They must remain aware of the new changes taking place in education and continuously update themselves.
Only then will it be possible to provide quality education to all our students.
HPCL is extremely pleased and proud to have partnered with this Research and Training Centre. We believe that this institution will contribute not only to the development of education in this region but also to the development of the education sector in several surrounding districts.

Address by K. C. Naik
The programme was presided over by Dr.K. C. Naik, stated that HPCL, one of the largest companies in India, had provided substantial financial assistance to Shakti Education Trust and extended its cooperation to the institution.
He said that the institution would continue its work of preparing children for society and developing them into valuable assets of the nation.
He expressed his gratitude to K. S. Shetty, Director, HPCL, for his support and cooperation.
