Moscow, Sep 30: A horrific plane crash occurred in Russia; a nuclear-capable Tu-95MS strategic bomber, conducting a training flight, crashed just minutes after takeoff.
The tragedy took place on Tuesday in Russia’s Far Eastern Amur region. The aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area during the training flight.
The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that six of the seven crew members on board lost their lives.
“On September 29, a Tu-95 aircraft crashed in the Amur region during a training flight. The aircraft hit the ground in an uninhabited area,” the Ministry of Defence said.
Six burned to death:
Of the seven crew members on board, six died, while one survived. Officials stated that the injured survivor has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Russia uses this nuclear-capable bomber for routine military training and exercises. The Ministry of Defence clarified that the aircraft was not carrying any weaponry or ammunition during Tuesday’s training flight. Meanwhile, an unverified video purportedly showing the plane crash is circulating on social media. The video shows thick smoke and fire at the crash site, and sounds resembling explosions can be heard. The exact cause of the accident is not immediately known. Officials have stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
