Vijayapura, Sep 30: A mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Vijayapura during the early hours of Wednesday, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring
The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 3.9 km northeast of Basavana Bagevadi.
The tremor occurred at 2:04 AM at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter situated at 16.604 degrees North latitude and 75.990 degrees East longitude. The disaster monitoring agency stated that the intensity was low, and the tremors might have been felt within a radius of 50 to 60 km from the epicenter.
The epicenter was located 7.8 km west of Hunashyala Gram Panchayat, 11.2 km west of Hoovina Hipparagi Gram Panchayat, 31 km northeast of Alamatti Dam, and 38 km southwest of Vijayapura city. “As the earthquake’s intensity is low, there will be no damage to the local community, although tremors may be felt locally. There is no need for the public to panic, given that both the observed intensity and magnitude are low,” stated the KSNDMC.
