Bengaluru, Sept. 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for several districts in Karnataka, forecasting continued rainfall.
Bengaluru recorded 16.6 mm of rainfall up to 5:30 PM on Monday, with a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for the following districts: Dakshina Kannada, Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru, and Ramanagara.
IMD officials stated that the Southwest Monsoon is active over North Interior Karnataka.
Officials attributed the rainfall across most parts of the state to a low-pressure area formed over the east-central and west-central Bay of Bengal.
There is a possibility that this low-pressure area could intensify into a depression in the coming days. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation extends from the surface to the upper atmosphere over central Tamil Nadu and surrounding areas. A weather system has formed over the southeast Arabian Sea, and a low-pressure area has been identified over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Officials have stated that widespread rainfall is forecast across most parts of the state due to the influence of these weather systems.
