Jhansi, Oct 19: A court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a non-bailable warrant against actress Rakhi Sawant. This action has been taken in connection with a 2010 suicide case, in which it is alleged that Rakhi Sawant made defamatory remarks against a local resident during one of her television shows.

According to District Government Counsel (Criminal) Mridul Kant Srivastava, the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the ‘Fast Track Court’ issued the warrant on Friday, following Rakhi Sawant’s repeated failure to appear in court.
The case pertains to Lakshman Ahirwar, a resident of the Hansari Prem Nagar area in Jhansi. It is alleged that Lakshman Ahirwar died by suicide on November 10, 2010, after feeling humiliated by remarks made by Rakhi Sawant on her television show, ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’.
Ahirwar’s mother, Savitri, had filed a complaint at the Prem Nagar Police Station. In the complaint, it was stated that Rakhi Sawant used insulting and objectionable language against the complainant’s son during an episode of a program aired in October 2010.
According to the public prosecutor, Ahirwar and his wife, Anita—who hail from Rajgarh—had been invited to the program against the backdrop of a marital dispute. Due to conflicts between the couple, Anita had returned to her parental home.
Srivastava stated that the next hearing in this case has been scheduled for December 1st.
