Bangladesh elections 3 days away: Hindu businessman brutally murdered

Dhaka, Feb 11: Violence against Hindus continues in Bangladesh, with just 3 days left for the parliamentary elections.

A Hindu businessman has been brutally murdered by unknown assailants in Bangladesh.

The incident took place in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh, and the murdered businessman has been identified as 62-year-old Sushen Chandra Sarkar.

Sushen Chandra Sarkar was a rice trader and owned “Bhai Bhai Enterprise” in Bogar Bazaar, officials said.

At around 11 pm, unknown assailants beat him to death with sharp weapons in the market area, left the body inside the shop and closed the door. They also fled with goods worth lakhs of rupees from the shop.

When Sarkar did not return home even late at night, his family members who went to the shop to look for him informed the police after seeing him lying in a pool of blood. His body was immediately taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Speaking to the media, his son Sujan Sarkar said that after his father’s murder, the killers stole money and other valuables from the shop. We have been in the rice business for a long time.

He said that no one had any enmity with us. He also demanded that the killers be caught and given strict punishment.

Meanwhile, violence has erupted in Bangladesh after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, especially violence against Hindus.

As Bangladesh prepares for national elections on Thursday, there is widespread discussion about the deteriorating condition of the country’s Hindu minority under the interim administration led by Muhammad Yunus.
