Mangaluru, April 27: The Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. has reported steady growth and outlined ambitious plans for the coming year at a review meeting held at Kurian Sabha Bhavan in Mangaluru.
During the financial year 2025–26, the Union recorded a total business turnover of ₹1,270 crore, compared to ₹1,174 crore in the previous year, marking an 8.18% growth.
Milk procurement also saw significant improvement, with an average daily collection of 4.07 lakh litres, reflecting a 19% increase over 2024–25. The Union currently has 51,693 active members.


Despite achieving a net profit of ₹10.61 crore in 2025–26, slightly lower than ₹12.79 crore in the previous year, the Union continued to support dairy farmers through incentives. Farmers received ₹1.50 per litre as a regular incentive, along with an additional ₹1 per litre as a special incentive between February 21 and May 31, 2026. In total, ₹23.99 crore was distributed as incentives during the year.
To strengthen dairy farming, the Union provided ₹6.64 crore in subsidies under various schemes, including mini dairy units, milking machines, rubber mats, commercial dairy units, green fodder development, cattle purchase from other states, and calf rearing programs.
For the financial year 2026–27, ₹60 lakh has been earmarked for cluster development along with continued implementation of existing schemes to enhance milk procurement.
The Union’s marketing network includes 1,781 active dealers, supported by 42 parlours, 91 franchises, and 15 bulk coolers. Daily average sales include 3.87 lakh litres of milk, 81,979 kg of curd, 2.8 tonnes of paneer, 6.1 tonnes of ghee, 850 kg of sweets, 2,000 litres of flavoured milk, 5,043 litres of buttermilk, and 4,250 litres of lassi, generating a daily revenue of ₹3.03 crore.

Modern infrastructure has also been strengthened with an investment of ₹12.81 crore in advanced machinery, a new warehouse, ice cream cold storage, and upgraded refrigeration systems.
Construction of a new warehouse at the Mangaluru headquarters, costing ₹7 crore, and an administrative building at the Udupi dairy, costing ₹4.25 crore, is currently underway and expected to be inaugurated within this year.
