IndiGo flight stops flights between Shivamogga and Bengaluru

Shivamogga, May 02: Despite receiving good feedback from passengers every day, IndiGo Flight has stopped services between Shivamogga and Bengaluru, citing several reasons. The flight last flew at 2:30 pm on April 30. With this, IndiGo has stopped travel in just 33 months.

IndiGo had started its first service on August 11, 2023. This benefited Malnad and Central Karnataka. The company had provided services to more than 1 lakh people in a period of 33 months. It has stopped ticket booking between Bengaluru and Shivamogga on its website from today.

What are the reasons for the suspension of flights?

The capital is not able to travel under the UDAN scheme. Also, due to the new rules imposed by the DGCA, there is a shortage of pilots and staff.

Earlier, an agreement was made for travel between Shivamogga and Bengaluru. As per the agreement, the state government was providing Rs 500 subsidy per ticket. The agreement was to end in August 2025. However, IndiGo had provided services for so long. Now the state government is delaying the renewal of the agreement.

The night landing system at the airport has not been completed. During the rainy season, flights may be cancelled and landing problems may arise. Thus, the flights have been suspended for many reasons.
