Chennai actress murder- Body found in pieces, body missing

Chennai, Aug 07: The murder case of a woman who was murdered in 2019 has got a big twist, and finally the exciting story of who was murdered that day has now been revealed.

Yes.. In January 2019, the severed hands and feet of a woman were found in a plastic bag near the Pallikaranai garbage disposal area in Chennai. Later, more body parts including bones and internal organs were found in various parts of the city. But only the head and left hand were not found.

Although the police searched about 11,700 tons of garbage to identify the deceased, no clue was found initially. The Shiva-Parvati and dragon tattoos on her right hand, which were finally found, gave a significant turn to the case. Meanwhile, a woman in Thoothukudi had complained to the police about the disappearance of her 37-year-old daughter Sandhya. Sandhya lived in Chennai with her husband Balakrishnan and two children and dreamed of becoming an actress.

When the police showed Sandhya’s family the marks on the body, her mother Shiva-Parvathi identified tattoos, moles and jewellery. Later, a DNA test confirmed that the deceased was Sandhya.

Investigation revealed that Sandhya and her husband Balakrishnan had frequent fights. Police alleged that Balakrishnan had attacked her with an axe during a fight on January 19, 2019, suspecting that Sandhya was having an extramarital affair.

He then allegedly cut the body into pieces, stuffed it in plastic bags and dumped it in various places in Chennai. Blood stains, plastic bags, a weapon and CCTV footage from the house were key evidence in the investigation. Although the police recovered most of Sandhya’s body remains, only her head and left hand were never found.

Finally, the faceless, unidentified body was identified by two tattoos on her hand — Shiva-Parvati and a dragon. The mother’s identification and DNA testing finally gave the woman behind the gruesome murder a name.

The man who killed Sandhya had erased the easiest way to identify her. There was no face. One hand was also missing. But on the other hand, two marks stood out above all else — the tattoo of Shiva and Parvati and the tattoo of a dragon. The mother identified those tattoos. The woman who was supposed to remain anonymous has finally been named.
