Child Welfare Minister Breastfeeds Naxal Child

Kathmandu: A video of a woman minister in Nepal doing a good deed has gone viral on social media and has garnered attention on social media. In this video, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Seetha Badi can be seen breastfeeding a newborn baby. People are calling her act an example of love and humanity.

Naxalite Child

But the most remarkable thing about this story is that the child is not the minister’s own daughter. This 17-day-old girl was among the 20 children who were rescued from a Naxalite children’s temple in Kathmandu due to their poor condition. Seetha, along with a medical team, met the children.

Doctors examined them and found that many of them were suffering from eye infections, skin problems and severe cough. The minister not only looked after the children, but also helped them clean and bathe them. Later, the 17-day-old girl started crying continuously. Attempts were made to calm her down, but she continued to cry.

There was no formula milk or any other way to feed her at that time. Then Sita took the baby in her arms and breastfed her.

Child protection

On July 18, a government team rescued 20 children from the Nepal Children’s Organization’s Bala Mandir center. This included 12 boys and 8 girls, aged just 15 days and 2 years.

During the rainy season, the conditions at the center had been deteriorating steadily. Sewage water had entered the room where the children under the age of two were kept. The situation was so dire that the staff had to shift the children to the administrative office. The rescue team included officials from several departments, including the Ministry of Ministers, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and the police.

According to officials involved in the rescue team, the conditions were extremely dire. The 20 young children were kept on a single floor mat, with dried instant noodles reportedly spread out in front of them. The children had to be evacuated as sewage water entered the room.
