Cinematic robbery in Mangaluru – Gold worth Rs. 20 lakh stolen from Kerala gold merchant

Mangalore, June 29: A Kerala-based gold merchant was robbed in a cinematic style on the highway in Baikampady, Mangaluru.

The incident occurred when a gold merchant named Vikas was returning to Kerala with his family after a wedding from Maharashtra. At around 4 am, the robbers stopped Vikas’ car on the Baikampady highway in Suratkal.

The robbers threatened Vikas’ wife and son and robbed him of gold and cash worth around Rs. 20 lakh from the car. The robbers also stole Vikas’ car along with the gold.

The fact that this incident took place on the national highway connecting Udupi-Mangalore is a cause for concern. This road is a busy one, and the incident has left the police reeling.

The Panambur police have registered a case and started an investigation. Initial information suggests that the robbers came in two Innovas and a Swift.

It is suspected that someone with accurate information about the gold merchant’s movements is behind this act.
