Cooker bomb blast case – NIA court sentences terrorist Sharik to 10 years in prison

Mangalore, April 27: The NIA special court in Bengaluru, which has declared Mohammed Sharik, the main accused in the cooker bomb blast case in an auto in Mangaluru city that shocked the coast, guilty, on Monday sentenced him to 10 years in prison and delivered a significant verdict.

On November 19, 2022, a cooker bomb exploded in an autorickshaw near Kankanady in Mangaluru. A major disaster was averted as the accused Sharik was carrying the bomb when it exploded accidentally.

Both Sharik and the auto driver were injured in the explosion. The case was handed over to the NIA for investigation in the wake of a conspiracy to threaten the security of the country.

The NIA court, after conducting a lengthy hearing in the case, imposed a severe sentence under IPC Section 121A, IPC Section 326 and the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

In this case, Sharik had confessed to all the charges against him and his wrongdoing before the court.
