New York: A new bill that the ruling Democratic Party leaders are going to implement in the famous New York state of America has now caused a lot of discussion and controversy at the global level. The ruling party is moving to remove the traditional and emotional words “Mother” and “Father” from the state’s child custody and family laws. This bill, which uses gender-neutral words instead of the words “mother” and “father”, has been passed in the parliament and is now awaiting the governor’s signature.

What are the changes in the new law?
According to this new law introduced by New York’s Democratic legislators, the word “gestating parent” will now be used in place of the word “mother” in family courts, the Department of Education, and family records. Instead of the word father, the non-gestating parent is referred to as the non-gestating parent or simply ‘parent’. Paternity hearings, the process of identifying the biological father of a child, are now called ‘parentage’.
Opposition parties’ outcry
Republican and Conservative party leaders have expressed outrage over the Democrats’ ‘vocal culture’ decision. This is outrageous behavior. While ordinary New Yorkers are struggling with rising prices of essential goods, electricity bills and safety issues, Republican Senator Patricia has lashed out at the ruling party for wasting time on irrelevant issues that change the sacred words of ‘mom’ and ‘dad’.
Leader Bruce Blakeman said that the Democrats have declared war on the harmony of New York’s families. He said that as soon as I become governor, I will put a stop to this madness.
What is the Democrats’ justification for amending the law?
Senator Luis Sepulveda, who supports this bill, said that in today’s society, cases of same-sex couples (Same-sex parents) and surrogacy are increasing. He argued that this gender-neutral language is necessary to simplify the legal processes for families with two mothers or two fathers and to complement the current court system.
The bill will become an official law as soon as it is signed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and it is said that it is likely to affect other states in the US in the coming days.
