Mangaluru: The annual feast of the Sacred Heart Ward of St. Theresa Church, Paldane, was celebrated with a Holy Mass at the residence of Anil and Merlin. The Holy Mass was specially arranged for a ward member who was elderly and unable to attend church due to health and mobility constraints.
The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Parish Priest of St. Theresa Church and Vicar Forane of the Mangalore City Deanery, who also delivered the homily and invoked God’s blessings on the gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, Church Vice-President Elias Fernandes said that all activities in the ward are carried out with the cooperation and support of its members. He appreciated the unity among the parishioners and noted that annual celebrations such as these provide a platform for the talents and abilities of ward members to come to the fore.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho commended the ward for its growth, discipline and active participation in parish life. Ward Secretary Roshan Monteiro and Coordinator of All Commissions William Lobo conveyed their greetings and best wishes. Ward Gurkar (Head) Molly Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. Representatives Richard Martis, Sabina Menezes and Jossey Coutinho were present.
The programme was compered by Lavina Serrao, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Sweeny Rodrigues. The celebrations concluded with a fellowship meal.
