Karwar, July 15: There is new hope in the lives of traditional fishermen in the coastal part of Uttara Kannada district. At the beginning of the new fishing season, traditional fishermen in the Arabian Sea of Karwar have caught a lot of fish, and the fishermen are happy. A lot of fish have fallen into the Yendi Net that was cast in the sea.


Fish wealth that fell into the Yendi Net
The fish population in the sea has increased due to the very favorable weather for fishing in the Karwar region for the past few days. The nets that fishermen who fish in the traditional style have got a bumper yield. Tons of fish of various species have fallen into the net at once, and hundreds of people were overwhelmed to see this scene as the fish were brought to the shore.
Coastal people in anticipation of good income
In the past few seasons, fishing had completely collapsed due to a series of weather fluctuations and the threat of cyclones. This time’s early bumper harvest has promised economic recovery for traditional fishermen who were living on loans. Fishermen’s families are hopeful that they can earn a huge income this time due to the good yield of fish.
Huge shipment to outside districts and states
There is huge demand in the local market for the fish that have landed on the Karwar coast. Traders on the coastal areas are rushing to buy the fish through the auction process. Not only the local markets of Karwar and Uttara Kannada district, but also the fish here is being shipped through ice boxes to various districts including neighboring Dharwad, Belgaum, and Shivamogga. In addition, there is a huge demand for fresh fish here even in the border areas of Goa and Maharashtra, so it is being supplied through trucks.
Nature’s grace for traditional fishing Despite the boom of technological boats, nature has shown its grace for traditional fishing, which is a traditional practice and a source of livelihood on the coast.
