Preparations for DK Shivakumar’s swearing-in – Half-day holiday declared for offices around Vidhana Soudha

Bengaluru, June 02: In view of the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka government has declared a half-day holiday for government employees in Vidhana Soudha, Vikas Soudha and the multi-storey building on June 3.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), the oath-taking ceremony will be held on June 3 at 4.05 pm on the Vidhana Soudha premises. Dignitaries, elected representatives, party leaders and the public are expected to participate in the event.

The government said this decision has been taken to facilitate security arrangements, traffic management and smooth conduct of the ceremony.

Heavy vehicular traffic and congestion are expected in and around the Vidhana Soudha premises. As a result, government offices around the Vidhana Soudha and Vidhana Soudha will be closed on June 3 in the afternoon.

The order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms in the name of the Karnataka Governor.

Meanwhile, Shivakumar has gone to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in the national capital today to discuss the cabinet formation and key institutional appointments ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.

The meeting assumes significance as the Congress high command is set to finalise the formation of the new Karnataka cabinet, including ministerial berths, the post of Deputy Chief Minister and institutional restructuring within the state unit.

Shivakumar will take oath as the Chief Minister at the Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru on June 3 at 4 pm.
