Mangaluru: Rev. Fr Albert Gregory Menezes, a senior priest of the Diocese of Mangalore, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 94 at St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu.

Born on December 23, 1932, Fr. Menezes hailed from Agrar and was the son of P. Jacob Menezes and Mercine D’Souza. Having answered the call to religious life, he was ordained to the priesthood on December 5, 1959, dedicating nearly seven decades of his life to spiritual service and pastoral care across various parishes in the region.
Over a distinguished ministry spanning several decades, Fr. Menezes served in numerous capacities across the diocese. His pastoral assignments included serving as an Assistant Parish Priest at St Lawrence Church, Karkal (1960), followed by roles as Vicar/Assistant in Belle (1962), Udayavar (1963), Kirem (1965), and Bejai (1966). He subsequently took charge as Parish Priest in Nellikar (1969), Vittal (1976), Ajekar (1983), Hosabettu (1985), Kanajar (1986), Gangoli (1993), Petri (1995), Bolkunje (1997), and Kalathur (2000), alongside serving as Chaplain at Mary Hill (1992) and Parish Administrator in Mukka (1999). In 2008, he retired to reside at the Senior Priests’ Home, St Antony’s Institute, before later moving to St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu.
The funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026. The Funeral Mass and Burial Rites are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia. The diocese has expressed profound gratitude for his long-standing priestly dedication and commended his soul to eternal rest.
