Puttur, July 26: In a significant step towards enhancing global academic exposure and career prospects for students, St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Reach, an overseas education consultancy, at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the College on Saturday.
The collaboration aims to provide students with greater access to international higher education opportunities, career guidance, and global academic engagement.
The MoU was signed during a programme presided over by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. Representing Global Reach were Shan Peter Joseph, Head of the Mangaluru Centre, and Poornima M., Senior Student Counsellor.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr Monteiro said that while the institution remains committed to providing quality education, it also seeks to prepare students for global academic and professional opportunities. He observed that the partnership with Global Reach would open new avenues for students’ educational and career advancement through international exposure and informed guidance.
He urged students to make effective use of the opportunities offered under the collaboration, including workshops, career guidance sessions, and international education initiatives, to broaden their academic horizons and enhance their employability.
Dr Geetha Poornima K., Training and Placement Officer, welcomed the gathering. Dr Vinayachandra, Director of the Research and Development Cell, delivered the introductory address, highlighting the significance of the collaboration in strengthening the institution’s efforts towards global engagement. Dr Edwin S. D’Souza, IQAC Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks, while Abhishek Suvarna, Training and Placement Officer, compered the programme.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and final-year undergraduate students attended the event.
Orientation on Global Higher Education
Following the signing of the MoU, representatives of Global Reach conducted an orientation session to familiarise students with opportunities for pursuing higher education abroad.
The session covered admission procedures to leading international universities, available scholarship schemes, application and student visa processes, career counselling services, complimentary TOEFL and PTE coaching, psychometric career assessments, internship opportunities in India and abroad, international education fairs, and avenues for establishing academic connections with globally reputed universities.
The representatives encouraged students to equip themselves with the skills, awareness, and guidance required to succeed in the rapidly evolving global education and employment landscape. They emphasised that informed planning and international exposure would enable students to build competitive academic and professional careers on the global stage.
