Tree Plantation Drive Conducted by IISDR at St. Peter Higher Primary School, Kottara, Mangaluru on July 11, 2026

Mangaluru: The Indian Institute of Skill Development and Research (IISDR)in association with Utkarsh successfully organized a Tree Plantation Drive at St. Peter Higher Primary School, Kottara, Mangaluru, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental sustainability and community engagement. The initiative was aimed at creating awareness among school children and the community on the importance of afforestation, biodiversity conservation, and environmental stewardship under the vision of a greener and more sustainable India.

The programme was inaugurated by Archana Ramanaik, Deputy General Manager, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her address, she appreciated IISDR’s efforts in integrating environmental responsibility with skill development and encouraged students to become ambassadors of environmental protection. P. Suresh, Former Head – HR of MCFL and Advisor – IISDR, attended as the Guest of Honour and emphasized that every tree planted today is an investment in the well-being of future generations.

The event was presided over by V. Rev. Fr. Nelson, Assistant Correspondent, St. Peter Higher Primary School, Kottara, Mangaluru, who highlighted the importance of educational institutions taking the lead in environmental initiatives. He appreciated the collaboration with IISDR and encouraged students to actively participate in such social and ecological activities.

As part of the programme, dignitaries, teachers, students, and volunteers planted a number of saplings across the school campus, symbolizing their collective commitment towards building a greener tomorrow. The initiative also included an awareness session on sustainable environmental practices and the long-term benefits of tree plantation.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ronald Siqueira, Executive Director, IISDR, with the support of Arundathi Hegde, Deputy Director, IISDR, and Patricia Lobo, Headmistress, St. Peter Higher Primary School, who expressed their gratitude to all participants and stakeholders for making the initiative a meaningful success.

The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings and to continue contributing towards environmental conservation. The Tree Plantation Drive reflects IISDR’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability, social responsibility, and community development through impactful outreach initiatives.
