Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh): The police have arrested Naushad, the main accused in the firecracker factory explosion case in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, in an encounter early this morning. Here is the report on it:
What happened?
A massive explosion took place in an illegal firecracker factory belonging to Naushad in Manauri village of Kaushambi on August 31. A total of 11 people, including 8 children, were killed in this tragedy and many were injured.
5-6 houses in the vicinity collapsed due to the intensity of the explosion. The main accused Naushad, who had been absconding after the incident, was trying to escape from the police near Syed Sarawan in Charwa area at around 4 am today. At this time, Naushad first opened fire on the police team that surrounded him.
During this time, the police shot the accused Naushad in the leg in self-defense. The police immediately took him into custody and admitted him to the district hospital in Manjanpur for treatment. Doctors said that his life is currently out of danger.
Furthermore, although the license of this firecracker factory was cancelled in 2024, Naushad was illegally running the factory in a residential area. Four staff members, including the inspector of Pipri police station, have been suspended for negligence due to lack of information about this. The deceased have been identified as Priyanjali (5), Praveen Singh (13), Janvi (12), Aditya (12), Ravi (8), Gyan Singh (40), Aditya (8), Anju (32), Vikram Saroj (35), Ansh (6) and Nanha (4), the District Magistrate said.
